Stirling Dynamics is recruiting for a Senior Stress Engineer to join the Mechanical Design Capability Group.

 

Due to upcoming projects and supporting continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for talented Senior Stress Engineers to join our team.

 

This engineer will work within a team responsible for all aspects of stress and structural analysis, working with mechanical designers to size and optimise assemblies and components contributing to aerospace and simulator products.

 

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline (preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) and must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding in the application of structural analysis to the aerospace sector, in particular with some experience of landing gear or landing gear components.


Proven relevant experience in industry is required with a good knowledge of applicable methods and processes including the use of MatchCad and Ansys.

 

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within and manage a team of engineers.


This role will be predominantly based in our Bristol office with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required. As part of our commitment to flexibility, our staff can choose to work from the Expleo offices in Preston or Derby if preferred. We will also accept hybrid working, permanent and contractors.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the stress tasks within wider projects, ensuring that the designed components meet the required structural strength requirements, and proposing recommendations and design improvements.

 

The immediate demand is in the area of landing gear components, however other opportunities will be available in actuators, hydraulic components and other mechanism designs.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 

  • Carrying out stress checks using classical techniques and using tools such as MathCad
  • Carrying out stress analysis via the generation of FEM and analysis using tools such as Ansys
  • Generation of stress reports and other technical documentation
  • Contribute the the internal structural analysis processes

Qualifications

Candidates will ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent), in a related discipline preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of fundamental modelling principles of systems.
