  Stirling Dynamics is recruiting an Electro-mechanical Technician to join the Production team.   Due to upcoming projects and continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for someone to support the production team either as a permanent hire or a contract basis (minimum of 6 months). Stirling Dynamics design, develop and produce a wide range of high-end aircraft simulator ‘inceptors’ (pilot – machine interface devices). Stirling’s family of active controls are feature-rich, highly reconfigurable and suitable for single or dual (linked) aircraft cockpit configurations. Our range of active products includes; side sticks, throttles, collectives, cyclics, tillers and pedals. These controls are extremely compact, fully active and benefit from low-acquisition and through-life costs. We have pioneered active control technology since the early 1990s and are proud to hold many industry and technology firsts, which includes supplying the controls for the first ever, fully-active fly-by-wire helicopter flight. Today, we supply the active stick and throttles for the new F-35 pilot training simulators and continue to break new ground in cockpit control technology.

  Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a Chief Engineer to join the team.   Due to a strong orderbook and continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for highly experienced engineers to provide technical leadership and governance through the bid and complex project delivery phases.   Stirling operates a matrix organisation with engineering capability on one axis (engineering teams/departments – organised by discipline, each led by a Technical Manager) and project delivery on the other (project management delivering on behalf of business units – project management is led by the Head of Programmes and each business unit by a Business Manager).   The Chief Engineer role will report directly to the Engineering Director and will sit on the delivery axis working with the business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure both bid and project solutions are technically optimal (considering time, cost etc.) while adhering to customer and regulative requirements.   The Chief Engineer may provide a ‘governance’ role where they provide independent review of technical solutions, or, alternatively, may be more actively engaged in the ‘technical leadership’ of specific, complex projects or bids.   The work will be immensely diverse spanning aerospace, marine and training & simulation. Aerospace covers both civil and military platforms and the scope may include; fixed wing and rotary wing (including eVTOL) aircraft both large and small. Projects span airworthy equipment development, complex modifications through to new aircraft development programmes. Within Marine, the scope includes the development of submarine control system solutions and niche consultancy services. The Training & Simulation entails the design, development and manufacture of a wide range of active and passive bespoke cockpit control solutions delivered to a worldwide customer base.   Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the successful leadership of multi-disciplined teams and delivery of complex engineering projects/programmes relevant to one or more of the industry areas detailed above.   This role is to supplement the current Chief Engineers team. Each Chief Engineer has a specialist background suited to the company capabilities and project requirements. In this role, Stirling is seeking candidates that have a software or hardware background (ideally both) from within regulated industry sectors.   The role will be highly visible both internally and externally, therefore the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders (customers, regulators, internal teams etc.) is essential.   This role will be predominantly based in our Bristol office with occasional travel to our clients’ sites as required, we will also accept hybrid working.

  Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Hydromechanical Design capability team on a permanent basis.    The Mechanical Design Engineer will be supporting the design and development of innovative technical solutions for applications within the aerospace, flight simulator sectors & Urban Air Mobility sectors. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be required to work closely with System, Stress, Electronics, Performance & Simulation engineers within a multidisciplinary project team to ensure the delivery of projects to the agreed technical requirements, timescales and budget. They will be involved in all aspects of the product design life cycle, from initial concept generation, detailed design, implementation, product improvement and in-serve product support. This role will be based in our Bristol office however as part of our commitment to flexible working, employees are able to work remotely for part of the time.

  Stirling Dynamics is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to support our Cockpit Controls and eVTOL business units.    With annual revenue in excess of £15m and ambitious plans for growth, we are looking to recruit a Technical Sales Manager with experience in the aerospace sector to support our products and services business development activities in both our established and emerging markets worldwide. The successful candidate will have demonstrable, positive and proactive business development skills and sales experience; enabling them to identify client needs in advance of the formal tendering process, develop sales campaigns, and support the construction of compelling proposals.   Applicants must have a strong business development background and an enterprising mind-set. It would be advantageous for the successful candidate to have an existing network of contacts within the aerospace domain and use these to support Stirling’s rapidly growing business.   Stirling have a geographically diverse Customer base and as such the candidate will be located with easy access to a major transport hub.   Stirling Dynamics is recruiting a Bid Manager to join the team.   The successful candidate will be primarily involved in managing a variety of bids across all Business Units. The role involves leading bids from initial opportunity identification through to submitting proposals and supporting customer negotiations. In addition to bid management the successful candidate will be involved in managing the full project lifecycle of assigned projects from launch to project closure. Key to this is ensuring that bids and projects are controlled in line with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and bid / project management procedures within the level of delegated authority. This role would suit a candidate who has previous engineering and current bid and project management experience looking to move into a fast-moving company with a world-wide customer base.   This role will be based in our Bristol offices with travel to our clients’ sites as required however as part of our commitment to flexible working, employees are able to combine office work with remote working.

  Stirling Dynamics is recruiting for an Engineering Manager for the Simulation and Control capability group.   To maintain sustainable growth, the engineering department is undergoing a reorganisation, which has led to the requirement for an Engineering Manager for the Simulation and Control capability. As a member of the senior management team, you will be responsible for the development and management of the simulation and control capability, working alongside other capability managers to plan and provide the necessary skills to meet the various project requirements. The Simulation and Control group provides mathematical model build and detailed analysis across our business areas of Aerospace, eVTOL, Marine and Cockpit Controls. The technical skills covered include: - Hydromechanical system modelling - Electro-mechanical equipment modelling - Multi-body simulation - Servo/motor control - Vehicle level control The areas for application are extensive and cover: - Landing gear systems modelling and design - Hydraulic system modelling and design - Hydraulic equipment design - Electro-mechanical actuator modelling, control and design - Flight dynamics modelling and analysis - Motor control - Flight control system modelling, control and design - Flight stability and control law analysis - Marine vessel auto-pilots and hover function design The modelling toolsets that the group currently use include: - Matlab/Simulink and associated toolboxes - ADAMS - Amesim As an Engineering Manager you should have industrial experience in some of these above areas and a good appreciation and understanding of the others. We are looking for both permanent employees at all levels of experience, and contractors.   The successful engineers will work within a team responsible for the development of complex control algorithms and vehicle and system plant models for next generation marine applications. The role covers all aspects of model based design, from controller design and tuning, model build and test.   Stirling Dynamics is recruiting Principal Loads and Aeroelastics Engineers to join the Structural and Fluid Dynamics team.   Due to upcoming projects and supporting continued growth, Stirling Dynamics are looking for talented Principal Loads and Aeroelastics Engineers to join our team. We are looking for both permanent employees and contractors.   This engineer will work within a team responsible for all aspects of aircraft structural dynamics, from model build and validation to the prediction of flutter and the computation of ground and flight loads for the whole aircraft. As a Principal Engineer responsibility will include leading technical packages of work/tasks; providing input into the generation of technical proposal documents and supporting and approving the work of junior engineers.   The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline (preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mathematics) and must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of aircraft structural dynamics, loads and aeroelastics.   Proven relevant experience in industry is required with a good knowledge of methods and processes followed within this field for both analysis and certification purposes.   The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within and manage a team of engineers.   This role can be performed from our Bristol office, but we are also open to employees being based from our office in Hamburg, Germany or working from the Expleo office in Preston or Derby if preferred.
